Summary

In this essay, a traditional concepts of copyright, influence of copyright on authors and their works in digital surrounding, as well as ways of protecting works in electronic form are analysed. Traditional systems of copyright protection functioned well in analogous fields, but development of digital technologies and global network called Internet made access to different contents, free download, cheaper copy and distribution of copyrighted works quicker and simpler. There is no time and teritorial limit for accessing copyrighted works on the Internet, so the possibilities of copyright protection of works is brought to question. A need for additional protection is required which we can be achieved by technological protection and licenses of different types.

Key words: Copyright; Copyright work; Internet; Digital technology; License.
