Summary

The paper comprehensively and systematically addresses leaves and holidays аs the basic rights of the workers. The author explains these fundamental rights of workers, and special attention is paid to the basic types of holidays and leaves, the conditions under which an employed person can realize them, as well as international regulations in this field. The paper’s aim is to help employers and workers in application of these two labor legal institutes because besides moonlighting and low wages, the greatest abuses by employers in the practice are connected to leaves and holidays of workers. The author concludes that it is necessary to improve and intensify inspection supervision of implementation of provisions of the Labor Law governing the worker’s right to holidays, as well as to establish mechanisms that will efficiently prevent these negative events in the field of employment relations.
